For more than 50 years, Southern Maine Agency on Aging has been a trusted place to turn for older adults, families, caregivers, and community partners. On Monday, October 5, we’re sharing a new name for that same trusted organization.

Our name is changing, but the things that matter most are not.

Why the name change? Maine is the oldest state in the country, and we believe that brings both opportunity and responsibility. As more of us live longer, Maine has the chance to lead – to strengthen our communities, rethink what it means to age, and help shape a future where people can age with choice, connection, and purpose. Our new name reflects our commitment to serving the people who count on us today and helping build the future of aging in Maine.

You’ll find the same people, the same programs and services, and the same commitment to helping people live well at home and in their communities, on their own terms. As always, we’re here when you need answers, support, connection, or simply a place to start.

We will have a new name but will remain the same organization you already know and trust – and a reflection of where we’re going, together.
