For many, the thrill of competing in an athletic event never ends. Thanks to Maine Senior Games, adults over the age of 50 can continue to participate and compete in annual athletic and recreational events. Maine Senior Games is a great opportunity for older adults to have fun and stay fit™.

Explore Track & Field
Come and join us on Sunday May 23, 2010 at Scarborough High School
to explore track and field events. 12 events will be offered throughout the day. You will be able to get to four of them! No pressure or competition...your chance to try an event to see if you like it! 12:30-3:00, $10. registration fee that will include snacks (coaches and trainers on site, handouts) contact Jo at jdill@smaa.org to register.
State Competition
Maine Senior Games hosts annual athletic events for adults over the age of 50 from anywhere in the United States. (you must be 50 by the last day of the year you are competing in). This is the 24th annual event and the dates are August 6th- September 26th.Learn about this year’s Maine Senior Games
National Competition
Maine Senior Games is a member of the U.S. National Senior Games Association, which hosts national athletic competitions every other year. Senior athletes who qualify at the state level, have the opportunity to compete at the national level—the largest multi-sport event in the world for seniors.
To qualify, you must be 50 years old during the qualifying year (the year prior to the national competition).
Upcoming Summer National Senior Games:
- 2011—Houston, Texas (June 19th-July 5th.)
- 2013—Cleveland, Ohio (Dates to be determined.)

Eligibility and Age Groups
The Maine Senior Games is open to anyone 50 years of age or older. (You must be 50 by December 31, 2010). Competition will be held in the following eleven age groups for men and women. Age group placement is determined by your age as of December 31.

Awards
Medals are awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in each age group of men and women. 4th place ribbons will be awarded in each age group of men and women. Awards will be presented as soon as results are posted and/or announced at each event, or may be picked up at the Maine Senior Games office during the week following the event.
Equipment and Supplies
In most cases, equipment needed for the events will be available. However, the following equipment is not provided:
- Bicycle/bicycle helmet
- Racquets (either tennis or racquetball)
- Golf clubs
- Tennis balls
- Javelin
