Direct Support Professional (Sam L. Cohen Center)
The Southern Maine Agency on Aging has an opening for a Direct Support Professional (DSP) 25 hours per week at the Sam L. Cohen Center in Biddeford. We provide programs for adults living with dementia or other cognitive impairments. Our DSP staff is energetic, creative, and compassionate as they facilitate a wide-array of activities designed to maximize self-esteem and increase positive social interactions for our members. DSP’s provide personal care, communication with caregivers and maintain accurate documentation. DSPs are an integral part of the Sam L. Cohen Center’s interdisciplinary team.

Preference will be given to applicants with a DSP certification or relevant working experience with dementia and/or other cognitive impairments. Work week Monday – Friday daytime, with benefits, paid holidays, and a flexible schedule.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

- High School or G.E.D.
- At least one year of experience in an Adult Day Health Center, residential care or nursing home strongly preferred
- Proven knowledge, experience and skill in working with the frail and handicapped elderly or disabled adults in areas such as ADL skills and appropriate mental, social and physical activities.
- Driver’s license and clean driving record
