For more than 40 years, the Southern Maine Agency on Aging (SMAA) has served as the area’s leading resource on information, programs and services to improve the well-being of seniors living in Cumberland and York counties.
Founded in 1973, under the authority of the Federal Older Americans Act, the Southern Maine Agency on Aging, is a non-profit organization dedicated to planning and implementing social services for adults age 60 and older and for people with disabilities.
Our programs and services are designed to foster independence, reduce the burden on family and caregivers and promote an active and healthy lifestyle.
Throughout the year, our 82 full-time staff and 1,200 volunteers help connect many thousands of seniors and their families and people with disabilities with the appropriate programs and services they need to help them live healthy, active and independent lives.
If you are an older adult or have a disability, or if you have a family member who is an older adult or who has a disability, living in York or Cumberland county, we would love to hear from you. Give us a call today.
The Southern Maine Agency on Aging is one of five Agencies on Aging that serves the state of Maine. If you live in Maine, but do not live in Cumberland or York county, please contact the Agency that serves your area.
