The Southern Maine Agency on Aging is accepting applications for a 28hour/week Elder Advocate, to be an integral member of the Information & Advocacy team serving older adults and their caregivers.  The primary functions of this position will be the provision of information and referrals on a call-in and/or walk-in basis, and outreach to seniors in the community. 

Minimum requirements include but are not limited to: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Gerontology, or related field, and a social work license;
  • At least one year of community experience in working with the elderly and demonstrated knowledge of community resources and benefit programs; Excellent interpersonal skills both written and oral;
  • A high level of critical thinking skills;
  • The ability to collaborate and work in teams;
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills. 
  • Computer literacy including experience working with databases.
  • Preference will be given to those with experience working with older adults.
