Manager of Training and Volunteer Services

Southern Maine Agency on Aging is seeking a 36 hour-per-week Manager of Training and Volunteer Services, with the position beginning in mid-July 2012.

The Manager of Training and Volunteer Services has responsibility for the development of orientation and training for agency staff and day-to-day operation of the volunteer programs of the Agency.  This position will work with the Deputy Director to design an agency orientation and training schedule specific to the needs identified by Program Directors and Managers.  The volunteer programs include the Agency’s Volunteer Connections Program which recruits volunteers of various ages to help the agency serve people age 60 and over, as well as the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), a federal program that recruits people age 55 and over to volunteer in a wide variety of nonprofit and healthcare organizations.  This position also recruits and supports an RSVP Advisory Council as well as recruits, hires, and trains RSVP field coordinators, Volunteer Coordinator staff and other program support staff.  In addition this position assists SMAA program staff to develop volunteer opportunities and how to recruit and supervise qualified volunteers to support agency initiatives. 

The minimum job requirements of the position include but not limited to: 

  1. bachelor’s degree or equivalent volunteer management experience and or human resources experience.
  2. A minimum of 2 years of supervisory and management experience.
  3. Strong oral and written communications skills.
  4. Demonstrated interpersonal skills.
  5. Financial management and budgeting skills.
